Read Across America Week
The school had a huge selection of books to choose from. I picked two and let the students vote on which one they wanted me to read — because we love a good democratic process. We practice what we preach over here!
We also spent some time talking about the history behind their school’s namesake and comparing notes about growing up in Northwest Baltimore, just like I did. Many of the students live in the surrounding neighborhood.
One of the best things about spending time with our youngest residents is their honesty. They’re curious, thoughtful, and have absolutely no filter — which means they’re going to ask the real questions.
Moments like this are a reminder that leadership is also about listening and thinking carefully about the future we’re shaping together. These students are the future of the 41st District, and the choices we make today should reflect the communities they will grow up in and lead.
